People have become quite health and fitness conscious in the todays world. Big group dinners are the norm for millennials. And though they're great for your social life, it's rough on your gut. Research published in the journal Nutrition found that meals eaten with two other people were 47 percent larger than meals savored alone. It gets scarier from there. Dining with 4, 6 or 8+ friends was associated with meal increases of 69, 70 and 96 percent, respectively. Though part of this has to do with the amount of time we spend at the table when dining with company, another study from the journal Appetite found people who spent longer eating because they were simultaneously reading didn't eat significantly more, meaning time isn't the only factor at play here.

For one thing, Wilkin believes he has discovered another form of "compensation", similar to Timothy Church's discovery that we reward ourselves with food when we exercise. Looking at the question of whether it was possible to change a child's physical activity, Wilkin's team put accelerometers on children at schools with very different PE schedules: one which offered 1.7 hours a week, and another that offered nine hours.

To get rid of it, you need to burn more energy than you eat! So the solution is twofold, stop eating junk and fill your body with nutritious foods. The ideal approach is to eat 5-6 smaller meals a day. Each meal will have complex carbs and a lean protein. The second aspect of this stubborn stomach fat-burning solution is to well, burn the fat.
