Strength training for the whole body may help you lose abdominal fat. The myth of the fat-burning zone - the idea that working out at a lower intensity burns the most fat - has been debunked. According to nationally-recognized running and fitness coach, Dr. Jason Karp, working out at a high intensity burns the most calories to help create the deficit needed for fat loss. In addition, he says that high-intensity exercise improves the ability of muscles to utilize fat, and it increases something called excess post-exercise oxygen consumption, or EPOC, which is a period of time after a workout during which the metabolism remains higher than normal.
