The Winter TV Season often brings a few new shows to each network's lineup that are true gems, but they are often mixed in with duds that were better off on the cutting room floor. Today, the House Judiciary Committee continued to wrestle the Stop Online Piracy Act before the second legislative session came to an abrupt end The hearing picked up this morning after more than 20 amendments were rejected over the course of yesterday's controversial 11-hour long markup process, during which legislators hashed out changes to the bill, which is commonly known as SOPA (H.R.3261). If passed as initially proposed, SOPA would broadly expand the U.S. Department of Justice's power to enforce copyright — and to demand that internet entities like social networks and search engines take an active role in doing so too. For now a vote is delayed until "the earliest practical day that Congress is in session," which could be weeks from now.
It's not like I haven't tried to get out from under cable's clutches before. I signed up for (and downloaded the At Bat app ) a few years ago, thinking I would be able to watch baseball games on the go. But unfortunately, Major League Baseball black out restrictions meant that I couldn't watch local games live. Sure, I could hook up to a VPN and watch it that way, but I couldn't figure how to have that work on all the devices in our house (We have three computers, two phones and a Roku). Sticking to cable was just easier.

It's been a month since Hulu added its live television service to the Amazon Fire TV and only a day after the company announced Xbox 360 compatibility for its subscribers. Now the company that Disney, Fox, NBC and Time Warner owns is putting its subscription-based live streaming product on PC and Mac.
Promising review: "In all fairness, I first heard of this product while watching Shark Tank, and their pitch was impressive so I gave the underdog a try. Now, I'm on my fourth re-order. My whole family drinks out of various name brand bottles, coffee mugs, etc. The fact is, they are rarely cleaned because they are a part of our daily lives and they are a pain in the ar$e to clean, because of the inconvenience that they are not dishwasher-safe, or don't fit. The answer is these tablets. They work and they're simple to use." — K.R.
