Bicycles are great. For 150 years they have given freedom, mobility and health to literally billions of people worldwide. Within 20 years of its first appearance, the bicycle had evolved, through experimentation and applied science, into an almost perfect extension of the human body. It was scaled to the human frame, with shoulder-width handlebars, a step-over or step-through frame and 27-inch wheels. For the next hundred years, improvements in road bikes were spawned from bicycle racing's constant search for strength and lightness in materials, but the basic proportions were unchanged because they were already perfect.
In terms of amount of usage, we cannot speak of a single homogenous group of Facebook users. That is our second major finding. Among those using Facebook, we identified a group of heavy users, consistent with the popular perception that Facebook users are very active and on the site for large amounts of time. However, the behavioral data show that there is an equally-large group of light or casual Facebook users - those who are light users in terms of frequency of use, duration of use, and overall amount of usage. These light users may be considered borderline non-users, but based on the behavioral data collected, they did in fact use Facebook over the four-week observation period, albeit a very small amount. And of course, between the heavy users and light users, there is an equally large group of medium users. Moderate users are also often overlooked or not considered a group of typical" Facebook users.
In his more recent 1980 writings which I have not examined here - and which tend to recycle (i.e. simulate) his earlier positions - Baudrillard continues to call attention to McLuhan as the great media theorist of our epoch and continues to subscribe to the postions that I explicated above, though occasionally he notes that one should even go further than he has so far in denying that the media are producers of meaning, or that media content or apparatus is important.
HubPages used to make money because it ranked high with Google, so anything anyone wrote here would get ranked easily. That's no longer the case. I doubt there will ever be another revenue-sharing site that matches HubPages in the old days, because Google doesn't like content farms these days.
